Highlights

  • Reading's first five signings under Jaap Stam had varying success, with Joey van den Berg retiring, Terence Vancooten playing an important role at Stevenage, Joseph Mendes currently playing for Rodez, Anssi Jaakkola becoming a goalkeeping coach at Bristol Rovers, and John Swift moving to West Brom.
  • Van den Berg spent two seasons at Reading before being loaned out and eventually released by the club. He retired in 2020 after a stint at a Dutch amateur side.
  • Vancooten, signed in 2016, never played for Reading and joined Stevenage after his release. He has been a key player for them since and is still with the club in League One.
